"You'll be relieved when you finish college." Those were words written on Bret's mind when he was still in elementary school. He believed it for years because he saw his father's friends drive expensive cars and live in large houses.
He worked so hard in school and received awards at his graduation that he was granted a full scholarship at a large foreign company in college. It was all due to his perseverance and hard work.
Life was not a walk in the park, though, so he was bombarded with a ton of problems. His mother was diagnosed with a severe illness, his father lost all of his freelance jobs, and the company that supported him did not contact him for a long time.
Bret knew he had to help his family, so he applied for every job imaginable, both online and offline. He applied for jobs ranging from online tutoring to graphic design, but he was turned down because he lacked relevant experience.
He had nothing after looking for work and had no idea where to go. He felt the pain and mindlessly scrolled through social media, which let him see his former classmates working as ship officers, traveling around the world, and launching new businesses.
What was going on in his life was disheartening. Bret thought life was unfair and that he did not deserve to be unsuccessful, but one day he came across a podcast that hit home to him.
The host tells him that comparison robs him of joy and that everything is happening for him, not to him. He took action!
He reapplied and got hired as an ordinary seaman on an international ship.

You'll achieve your unique success...
In a life's journey, each has a unique story and timeline. Understandably, sometimes you and your parents expect that you are all set for good employment, and yes, it is inevitable that they anticipate that success is guaranteed when you graduate from college.
Yet life does not work that way, and you get to understand that when you set out to reach a goal, it is not a straightforward process, and you will likely encounter setbacks that will make you feel like all your past efforts are useless.
To maintain a positive mindset, it's best not to compare yourself to others, especially on social media. People usually only share the good parts of their lives, so it's important to remember that what you see may not be the full picture.
As Teddy Roosevelt wisely said, "Comparison is the thief of joy." You'll achieve your unique success, and it's important not to assume that others have everything figured out. Take everything you see online with a grain of salt, as things are sometimes not as they seem.
It's crucial to focus on your personal growth and development, whether that means reading books, taking online courses, or pursuing your passions.

You can weather any storm and emerge stronger!
Life always has twists and turns, and it's important to keep in mind that every single thing or experience has its reason and purpose, and it certainly happens for you, not to you.
Whether it's a good or bad experience, you get to accept it as part of your journey. While you can't always control the situation you find yourself in, you can control how you respond to it.
When you adopt a growth mindset and focus on self-improvement, you can weather any storm and emerge stronger and more resilient than ever.
So, the next time you encounter a setback or obstacle, remember to stay positive, stay focused, and keep pushing forward.
Success may not come overnight, but with perseverance, dedication, and faith in God, anything is possible.
